Overview

There’s something soothing about Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Just a short drive from Ho Chi Minh City, the riverside towns, rustling forests and smiling people will instantly make you feel more relaxed. You could spend weeks exploring the Delta in full, however if you only have a day to spare, take an boat tour to the Mekong Delta’s charming countryside. It’s worth your expectation.

The Mekong Delta is the delta made up of alluvium from the Mekong River. It’s also known as Nine Dragons River, representing its 9 major tributaries in Vietnam. People here live their life in harmony with nature. So the best way to catch the Delta’s highlights is a boat tour.

Mekong Delta is also home to stunning national parks protected by UNESCO, colourful stilt houses, olive water, lush green islets, floating fish farms, barges and motorboats, and the brilliant blue skies and cottony clouds of southern Vietnam.

In just a day, you could encounter all the specialties of this region: mixed-culture architecture, famous floating market, beautiful boat rides, family-run farms and factories, unique cuisine and of course hospitable locals.

Itinerary

8:00 AM - 16:30 PMMy Tho (Vinh Trang Pagoda), Mekong River, Ben Tre

Our tour guide will welcome you at our office or pick you up at your hotel, then transfer to My Tho City by bus (1.5 hours). On the way, we will visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, the biggest pagoda in the Mekong Delta.

Upon arrival in My Tho, we will take a boat trip along the Mekong River, where you can see fish cages and floating houses on the river. The boat takes you to a small canal, where you can totally escape from the busy town and relax. The boat cruise in the coconut trees canal takes you to a coconut island in Ben Tre. We disembark and have a walk around the village. Stop at a local family home to enjoy tropical fruit, taste the honey tea, honey wine and listen to Vietnamese traditional music, performed by the villagers.

We stop by the village coconut candy shop, learn how to make candy, and see some handicraft made out of coconut trees. Take a walk through the village and admire the fruits, flowers, trees, local houses, children and people.

Then, we will head to the local restaurant. Lunch is set with local Vietnamese food. After lunch, we go for a walk around the area. We’ll then travel back to the river ferry and head back to Ho Chi Minh City. Arriving at around 16:30 PM.
